We understand how important it is for brides to look their best all day long. Wedding days can be very long days. Even being one of the top makeup artists in the bridal industry, having the best water-proof and smudge-proof makeup available in the market, in all honesty we believe that maintenance throughout the day is necessary to keep you looking flawless at any time in all cameras (and phones).
Longevity of makeup will vary from person to person. It also depends on:
- Skin type
- Eye shape (for eye makeup)
- Weather (such as temperature and humidity)
How to keep your makeup looking perfect all day?
1. Hire a makeup artist to go onsite
If your budget allows, hire a makeup artist to stay with you the whole day. You probably have a photographer (and possibly a videographer) with you throughout the whole day. and it makes sense to have a makeup artist as well, so you are guaranteed to look great in every single shot. This is one of the most important days of your life - you will not regret the money spent.
2. Book a touch up session
Many makeup artists offer a once-off session to refresh your makeup. This usually happens before the wedding ceremony or before the reception. Make sure you ask your makeup artist how much time do they need and allow enough time in your schedule.
3. Prepare a touch up kit
If you don't have a makeup artist on-site, it is crucial for you to bring your own touch up kit, containing:
- Cotton buds
- Compact powder
- Lipstick
- Lip Gloss
- Oil-blotting films (for oily or combination skin types)
- Mirror compact
- Eye lash adhesive (if wearing false lashes)
- Bottled water or micellar water
- Any other items you may want to use (e.g. eye liner, concealer, hydrating mist)
Eyes
A cotton bud soaked in water (or micellar water for a quicker and cleaner result) is the easiest makeup eraser you can get. If necessary, use a tiny bit of concealer to touch up the area you have cleaned up, and set with a small amount of compact powder.
Complexion
Use oil-blotting films to blot away any shininess, and then press some powder onto where you have blotted. Follow up with a spritz of hydrating mist if desired.
Lips
Remember to touch up the lip color. Ask a bridesmaid to remind you (it's their job!). The faded lip colour may not look obvious in person but it really shows in photos. Touching up with just lip gloss is not going to cut it - it does not provide enough intensity. Lip gloss should be used after lipstick to give you that additional dimension.
4. Use a straw
Use a straw for your drinks such as water and juices. This will increase the longevity of your lip makeup. Whether you want to use a straw for the champagne as well is up to you :)
